Infant Daily Schedule – Vadnais Heights
The infant schedule will follow the individual needs of each child’s eating and resting patterns. Each schedule will be modified by a child’s individual state of development and to his or her needs. Below is a general list of activities to illustrate a typical day at Children’s Discovery Academy.
Motor Development
Large Muscle: Gross Motor Materials such as Large Muscle Room Equipment, Push Toys, Bouncy Balls, & Outdoor Equipment
Small Muscle: Manipulative Toys (rattles, balls, busy box, pop beads, sand/water toys etc.)
Cognitive Toys (shape box, stacking rings, blocks etc.)
Language & Cognitive Development
Children will have use of equipment which will promote talking, listening, and critical thinking such as:
Music, Hard & Soft Blocks, Pictures, Mirrors, Stuffed Animals, & Musical Toys. Infants will be introduced to Sign Language.
Social/Emotional Development
Staff will consistently model and encourage social behavior. Dramatic play equipment, helping infants to identify emotions, and group play are some ways we help infants develop these skills. Social/Emotional development will be emphasized in all areas of the classroom.
Non-Mobile Area
This area is designed to provide a safe environment for non-mobile children while they’re involved in independent discovery time. This will include time in swings, under mobiles, in front of the mirror, access to a variety of toys with different sounds and textures, or quiet time with a teacher in a rocking chair.
